M.A.D.D. Rhythms 20th Anniversary
M.A.D.D. Rhythms, Chicago’s premier tap dance collective, is celebrating our 20th anniversary! We kick off our year long celebration on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The 20th anniversary season includes the world premiere of “Hoofin’ It: The Untold Story of the Founders of Tap”, the release of the Documentary “Beyond a Shuffle”, “Dancing On The Third Coast: Chicago Dance Histories”, M.A.D.D. Rhythms publishing debut, virtual premieres, celebrations of tap dancers past and present, classes, the return of the Chicago Tap Summit, and more.
Director and co-founder Bril Barret reflects…
“For two decades we have been laying the groundwork for tap dance in Chicago and this year is an exciting look back on that journey. Our anniversary also allows us to share a sneak peek into the next 20 years and how we, and tap, will evolve!”

For our 20th anniversary we want to raise $20,000 for our non-profit, Making A Difference Dancing Rhythms Organization. We will have a series of different fundraising events to support different areas of our M.A.D.D. Rhythms family. One such would be the 20 / 20 / 20 in April where for 20 days we want 20 donors to give $20 which will go towards funding our teen training program the Bronzeville Crew.
