Hoofin’ It: The Untold Story of the Founders of Tap
October 3rd @ 5:00pm CT
“Hoofin’ It: The Untold Story of the Founders of Tap” is a trans-media experience showcasing the different stories of tap’s untold history interspersed with historical footage and interviews. A centerpiece of any jazz-vernacular art form, improvisation, will be heavily featured throughout the show.
A libretto will be associated with the performance which is the culmination of the year long research process, completed by Bril Barrett and Ailea Stites, which includes various stories, accounts, and material centering on the hoofers and tap dance’s origin during the slave trade. Barrett weaves together the research and artistry of M.A.D.D. Rhythms into one cohesive narrative: the story of the original founders of tap.
October 1st @ 8:00pm CT
M.A.D.D. Alum Nico Rubio will be hosting this year’s footage evening. You will leave feeling full, refreshed, revitalized, and re-inspired.
