AfroFlow performs at IIT to packed crowd, M.A.D.D. Rhythms is ‘amazing,’ Chicago poets compete
From The Examiner
The heavy rain in Chicago didn’t affect the packed house of students, parents, grandparents and fans coming to see AfroFlow. Avoiding heavy traffic from the White Sox game going on a few blocks away, the crowd was in full force at the Illinois Institute of Technology at 7 p.m., Sat., May 8, in Hermann Hall Auditorium, 3201 S. State St. to see the hip-hop music group.

From Kristin Lewis, Contributing Editor, Dance Spirit magazine
I’m working on another piece for Dance Spirit magazine about how to deal with “losing.” The aim of the story is to help dancers deal with the disappointment they feel when they don’t win first place or don’t get the company/group/job they wanted. The story will help them understand their feelings, give them the tools to deal with those feelings, and help them see how they can use these setbacks to push them forward to become better dancers.

CHICAGO LOSES ANOTHER JAZZ NIGHT SPOT?
Green Dolphin Street, the nightclub-and-restaurant complex at Ashland and Webster, has unceremoniously closed its doors, jettisoning employees and canceling scheduled musicians with virtually no notice. The move raises questions about what – even in this economy – is sure to be a valuable Wicker Park property.
Dave Freeman, who ran the sound at Green Dolphin Street, first reported the closing on his Facebook page Sunday. As of Tuesday, he had learned that all upcoming bookings for private parties were being moved to other venues, and that the property itself was now under bank management. As of Tuesday, its website - www.jazzitup.com — had been suspended for non-payment.

Morehouse Whiz Kid is Causing a Stir: 13-Year-Old Dominates College
At thirteen years of age, Stephen Stafford is causing quite a stir at Morehouse College . Stafford has a triple major in pre-med, math and computer science. Though he loves playing video games and playing his drum set, he is no typical teenager.
“I’ve never taught a student as young as Stephen, and it’s been amazing,” said computer science professor Sonya Dennis. “He’s motivating other students to do better and makes them want to step up their game.”
